Enrolment Information

Primary – Years 5 and 6

To be eligible for enrolment in the virtual opportunity class, students must also be enrolled in a NSW Government school which is classified as rural and remote.

Students at schools with opportunity class provisions, or at schools within the drawing areas of existing opportunity class provisions, will not be eligible to apply. Click here to view the list of eligible host schools.

The first intake of Year 5 Aurora students was in 2021. These students will comprise Aurora’s first Year 6 cohort in 2022 and there will be a new intake of Year 5 students in this, and in each subsequent year.

Applications for Year 5 placement in the virtual opportunity class in 2022 open Tuesday 20 April 2021 and close at 5 pm on Friday 7 May 2021.

The Opportunity Class Placement Test for 2022 entry will be held on Wednesday 21 July 2021.

Students seeking enrolment in Year 5 are considered for entry on the basis of academic merit, which is determined by the students’ performance in the Opportunity Class Placement Test.

Year 7

To be eligible for enrolment in our school, students must also be enrolled in a NSW Government school which is classified as a rural and remote school.

Applications for entry into Year 7 in 2022 opened on 13 October 2020 and closed on 16 November 2020. The Selective High School Placement Test for entry to Year 7 in 2022 will be held on 11 March 2021.

Students seeking enrolment in Year 7 are considered for entry on the basis of academic merit, which is determined by the students’ performance on the school curriculum and in the Selective High Schools Placement Test.

The test consists of reading writing, mathematics and general ability components.

Where students qualify to attend a fulltime local selective school and our school, the offer made to successful students will be determined by the order in which parents list their choices.

Years 8, 9 and 10

To be eligible for enrolment in our school, students must also be enrolled in a NSW Government school which is classified as a rural and remote school.

Students who did not qualify and/or did not apply for entry in Year 7 have the opportunity to apply for the selective stream in Years 8, 9 and 10, providing there are vacancies available.

Applications for enrolment in 2021 are now closed.

Applications for enrolment in 2022 will open on 21 June 2021 and close on 16 July 2021.

An enrolment form may be downloaded from Selective High Schools: Years 8 to 12 placement during this period.

A submitted application must include:

  • a completed application form
  • copies of school reports (Semester 1 from the current year and Semester 2 from the previous year)
  • results in academic competitions (eg Australian Mathematics Competition)
  • evidence of performance in literacy and numeracy (eg NAPLAN results).

Applications will be reviewed and a short list of the top twenty applications will be established. When a place becomes available, candidates on the short list will be interviewed and a place offered.

Years 11 and 12

To be eligible for enrolment in our school, students must also be enrolled in a NSW Government school which is classified as a rural and remote school.

Enrolments are also open to all Years 11 and 12 students in rural and remote government high schools.

Students may apply to study one or more Stage 6 subjects with Aurora College.

Applications for Year 11 (2022) open Wednesday 14 July 2021 and close on Friday 22 October 2021.

Applications for Year 12 (commencing Term 4, 2021) open on Wednesday 14 July 2021 and close on Friday 20 August 2021.

To make an application for enrolment in one or more Stage 6 courses:

1. Download and complete all sections of the Application for Enrolment form (available during application period):

  • Stage 6 (HSC) or;
  • Stage 6 (Preliminary)

2. Attach a copy of the most recent school report

3. Ask your principal to sign and then mail your application to:
